Fitocracy: A fun way to work out! Sort of. The app tracks your workouts and activity, letting you manually enter your crunches, squats, runs and trots to score points. It turns those activities into a game where you can earn badges and advance through levels, and also compete against others on a level field. Frameographer: Frames automates the laborious part of stitching together still-frame iPhone images into a video — whether it’s a time lapse or a stop motion video is up to you. Open Frames up, start a new project, and hit the familiar-looking camera button to start recording. $2.99. [imgclear]

Zite: It’s a personal magazine app that customises its content just for you. It learns what you like from your Google Reader and Twitter account and displays stories you’d probably ejoy reading. The app gets bette the more you use it, as it becomes more familiar with your tendencies. Free. [imgclear]


TED: TED talks are some of the best content the internet has to offer, bar none. And though you might want to watch them in deep concentration and free from distraction, peeping it on your Android phone is as convenient as you can get. Free. [imgclear]

Paper: Made by the guys who were behind the ill fated Microsoft Courier, Paper is a gorgeous sketchbook and note-taking app that uses its instruments amazingly well. If you want to draw, Paper will make you look good with fountain pens, watercolours and more. If you want to write, your stuff will look legible. Fantastic app. Free. [imgclear]


Longform: If you’re favourite thing to do on the iPad is read, you owe it to yourself to get Longform. It’s an app that culls all the great longform writing from places like Esquire, The Atlantic, Grantland, The Awl and more into one app. There, all the great pieces can be read uninterrupted and in your hands. iPhoto: iPhoto, miniaturised, wants you to do a lot more with your photos: crop them, change contrast, apply “cool vintage Instagram-ish nostalgia filters” (not an actual quote), and other manipulation basics. It delivers on this. You can do these things. [imgclear]


Better Bacon Book: It’s a bacon recipe cookbook for the iPad that’ll up your taste for the tastiest cured meat in the world. If you think bacon is just some crinkly blood red rubber from Denny’s (delicious rubber it may be), you need the Better Bacon Book. It’s got 20 HD videos and 150 high res pics to get your mouth salivating and 31 original recipes to make you earn it. $5.49. [imgclear]
