If This Creepy Typeface Had A Name, It Would Be ‘Murder’

Someday, hopefully an intrepid computer designer will convert these crazy letters made by Austrian artist Andreas Scheiger into a font. Talk about taking “the living word” to a whole other (grosser) level.

What’s inside a letter when you cut it open? Vascular tissue, tendons and vertebrae, naturally. Each of these letters starts out as a hunk of wood which Scheiger slices up before adding anatomical details. (Click here to see the step-by-st`ep process.) The results are beautiful, but, uhhh, it really makes you wonder what kind of person gets the weird urge to simulate dissection. It’s almost surgical porn. [Grafiches Labor via Buzzfeed
