Today the space shuttle Enterprise took flight one last time on the back of a 747, as Discovery did a few weeks ago. Enterprise went out NYC-style with a flyover of the Manhattan skyline. The last time New Yorkers caught a glimpse of the shuttle in the sky was on June 10, 1983, when the Enterprise returned from the Paris Air Show.
The shuttle will end up in the Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum this summer, where the public can get up close and personal with the piece of space history. But if you weren’t lucky enough to be on a Manhattan rooftop this morning, here’s a taste of the spectacular view.
