Ashton Kutcher To Play Steve Jobs In Upcoming Movie, Claims Variety

Since Steve Jobs's death, there's been some speculation as to who might play him in the inevitable string of biopics. Here's the first: according to Variety, Ashton Kutcher is set to play the role of Jobs in a new indie movie.

Over the weekend, Jeff Sneider wrote for Variety that Kutcher will appear in an indie flick directed by Joshua Michael Stern from a script by Matt Whiteley. Apparently, the movie already has funding and filming will commence in May.

Cynics — including me — might point out that it's likely an April Fools' joke, but Snieder is on record as saying that Variety considered "holding it until Monday for fear of readers dismissing it as a joke, but felt it was too big a scoop to risk losing". So it looks like it could well be true.

Of course, this won't be the only Steve Jobs biopic — we already know that Sony Pictures is developing its own based on the best-selling book by Walter Isaacson. [Variety]

What's it going to be called? Dude Where's My iPhone?

Movie title: Dude, Where's My iPhone?

Your joke was awful the first time

Best comment of the day Mac, bravo.

        Nate, you suck.

He does look a little like Steve, but c'mon, can anyone who isn't baked out of their brain actually enjoy Ashton's acting?

All he's gotta do is act like a spoiled-child-control-freakish-man though, Kutcher can handle that ;)

I think with the right direction, Kutcher could pull it off. There's no mistaking his looking like a young Steve Jobs, so that one's in the bag....they just gotta get some decent acting out of him. No easy feat I'm sure but hey.....John Travolta was ridiculed relentlessly before Pulp Fiction turned him into a new force to be reckoned with in hollywood. Maybe a great performance from Kutcher in this one film will open a whole new world of film for him.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm no fan of Kutcher but his role in The Butterfly Effect had plenty of moments that show he is adept at serious acting when required. It wasn't the best film by any measure but he did show some skill within it.

The rest of his CV though, reads like every actors worst nightmare.

Pulp Fiction turned him into a force to be reckoned with for the duration of that movie, after that everyone went back to making fun of him, and he hasn't made a good movie since.

He was good in the butterfly effect...

      +1... dude can act!

-1. Butterfly Effect is the only movie of his I have managed to sit through. I liked the movie but he wasn't good in it. Seriously, he can't act.

I forgot about that, I enjoyed that movie, and his acting was passable.

He may have some illegitimate daughters out there as well. Good casting.

Overrated actor to star as inventor of overrated gadgets. Perfect :)

I honestly don't think anyone "overrates" Kutcher, he is looked at as a joke.

Also, stop with your stupid attempt at fan boy bating, you piece of human excriment. This article has nothing to do with apple products.

Here's an idea, how about they pick a complete schmuck to play steve jobs, how does that sound.
