The gadget surgeons at iFixit have seized the new iPad and are currently tearing it down. Will the procedure reveal the rumoured 1GB of RAM and 1GHz processor? What details will we learn about the beautiful retina display? Updated.

The teardown reveals a lot of rumours we’ve heard over the last week. The retina display inside this particular iPad has was made by Samsung, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that every single one of the displays was made by Samsung. We also got our first look at the A5x 1GHz processor, which Apple claims outperforms the NVIDIA Tegra 3. The teardown also confirms that the new iPad has 1GB of RAM. Will all of those specs makes the iPad as awesome as we’ve already heard it is? We’ll have to wait until we get our hands on one tomorrow to find out. [iFixit]
