HTC Titan II: Telstra’s Next 4G Phone In April?

We already knew that Telstra had an aggressive 4G rollout strategy — no doubt wanting to own the 4G space before Optus gets a hand in — with plans to release “three or four” 4G phones by mid-April. We’ve already seen one — the HTC Velocity 4G — and it now appears that the second will be the HTC Titan II.

Thanks to Sheeds for the tip; his sources indicate that the Windows Phone 7 based HTC Titan II will be heading to Telstra stores for an early April release. We’ve seen the suggestion for some time that a 4G version of the Galaxy S II might be Telstra’s next 4G phone , but with a plan to release “three or four” 4G phones by mid-April, could Telstra be on the verge of doing a double headed launch?

So what’s the HTC Titan II, I hear you ask? It’s a 4.7 inch (960×540) phone with a 16MP camera; Danny took a look at it back at CES. The interesting thing with the Titan II is that it hasn’t shipped internationally as yet, meaning that Telstra might just steal a march on the rest of the world for it if the tip pans out. As always, you can check its specifications against the competition in our Super Phone Guide. [WPDownunder]
