There’s so much one can learn about cameras, from ISO to white balance to aperture settings. And there is, for some reason, an irresistible urge to share that knowledge once you’ve learned it, even if no one’s asking, and even if it’s totally irrelevant to the conversation at hand.
I love you, camera nerds. But my goodness, you can be annoying. [xkcd]

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:57 AMWhat I find is funny is when someone buys a DSLR and they are automatically a professional.
I am an enthusiast (I have a 5DMKII and 7D bodies, and a lens assortment ranging from 8mm – 500mm focal range), I love taking photo’s and I think I’m pretty good. But I never say I’m a pro in any instance.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 12:10 PMI heard someone say that professional photographers don’t exist. Given that photography is a trade, I’m inclined to agree.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 12:31 PMgot a couple of friends who recently purchased DSLR
by god they ARE annoying….
reading a lot of photos magazines and reading a lot of articles does not constitute a semi-pro
shameful really if they considered themselves as semi-pro but still couldn’t take a straight picture….oh sorry….the “un-straight” picture is intentional for “art” direction….
what a load of bull….

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 3:43 PMBeing married to a pro photographer even he gets annoyed about this kind of stuff. A DSLR with a dual kit lenses doesn’t make a pro. Years of practice and study get you kind of close.
