The world is ripe with awe-inspiring footage of surfers riding waves. I mean who doesn’t love a giant wall of water? But rarely do we get to see the terrifying underbelly that lies beneath the surface.
Photographer Mark Tipple sets out to document this phenomenon with the Underwater Project. Mark turns the camera on ocean swimmers, many of them complete strangers, as they toss, turn and struggle under giant clouds of doom. The result is beautiful and dwarfing.
