Samsung Outlines Its Quickflix-capable Gadgets

We already knew that Samsung and Quickflix were getting all cosy in preparation to launch the movie service onto Samsung’s devices. Now it’s emerged which of Samsung’s devices will actually get the service.

In a release sent out today, Samsung’s outlined which of its smartphones, TVs and tablets will be Quickflix enabled in 2012, although the timeline is still only stated as “in the coming months”. The products are as follows

Samsung Mobile Devices:
GALAXY S, GALAXY SII, GALAXY W, GALAXY Note, GALAXY Tab 7.0, GALAXY Tab 7.01, GALAXY Tab 7.7, GALAXY Tab 8.9, and GALAXY Tab 10.1.

Samsung audio visual devices:
2010 and post-2010 LED, LCD or Plasma internet enabled television models
• 2010 and post-2010 Blu-ray and Home Theatre System models that are internet enabled

      You could ask the same why the (Samsung) Nexus S isn’t included; despite is close similarity to the Galaxy S. The answer is likely a resounding “no” for both Nexus devices – they run vanilla Android.

      Samsung have added their own framework to their own Galaxy devices, which no doubt is utilized delivery of the proprietary QuickFlix app(s). If Samsungs framework wasn’t used, QuickFlix for Android wouldn’t be hard to be sideload onto any Android device, and Samsung wouldn’t want that now would they?
