Yesterday’s super-hot phones are today’s bargain fodder; behold the HTC Sensation XL, which only a few months ago was only available on a $59 Vodafone cap plan with $5 monthly co-pay. Now you can snap one up for $29/month as part of a limited promotion with no co-pay, although it seems as though the bundled Beats headphones that made up part of the original deal aren’t included. Monday, February 13, 2012 at 12:05 PMYeah the beats headphones aren’t included any more. Still a nice enough phone and probably the best phone that is free on a $29 cap
Agreed
Monday, February 13, 2012 at 12:42 PMAlthough I am glad it doesn’t include those headphones

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 12:24 PMI’d prefer the XE which is the same price. (or at least has been and will be again). Single core CPUs just don’t cut it anymore.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 12:44 PMThese phones are better than iPhone 4S so why are people still buying that junk.
I do prefer the XE though.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 1:10 PMPeople are buying the iPhone 4S because all they have to do is plug it into their PC, press sync and their 3G/3GS is instantly upgraded as opposed to spending a day setting up an android

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 1:17 PMReally? It took me 5 minutes last time I got my new Android. And I didn’t have to plug it into anything.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 1:35 PMI upgraded to a Galaxy S2 from a iPhone 3G and it was simple, took about 5 minutes to set up!

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 9:27 PMTell me WHY I would switch to an Android phone?!?
I have both an iPhone 4S and a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I even tried using the Nexus as my only device for a week and I was glad when I went back to my iPhone.
Please tell me why the iPhone 4S is “junk” and tell me what I can do on an Android device that I cannot do with my iPhone – Here is a hint… don’t tell me I can theme my device or download torrents or root my phone and install anything I want, because they aren’t good reasons for me to switch.
I have tried several Android devices, hoping that I would be able to remain neutral when giving advice to people, but for me, I still say the iPhone is the BEST device to use and recommend…
As a positive to Android though, it took next to no time to setup the Galaxy Nexus, entered my Google Account details and I was up and running in next to no time…. But iOS 5 has drastically improved the iPhone setup process too!

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 10:03 PMFor a start the Gmail app allows u to search all ur past emails. my girlfriends iPhone 4 email app wont do a server search. (maybe its a problem with some setup….)
on her phone a simple pdf of her e-ticket to that was emailed to her would not read the individual added information on it. (i.e. seat number, name, date, time, etc…) but it showed the standard template with the standard wording. redownloaded it numerous times, reset the phone. We thought they stuffed up the e-ticket so i paniced as it was 6pm and the show was that night (yeah she wasn’t organised enough to check at work) and made them resend the ticket 3 times. that was when i thought it might be the phone and decided to download on my 2 year old htc desire and it opened it perfect not problems. This is a major problem for us as we do alot of etickets.
google maps/navigation – free, acurate, turn-by-turn navigation and just awsome when u upgrade to the new 3d building maps on the galaxy nexus.
i can choose to default programs to open with different presses. that is convienent and really easy.
KEYBOARD – my god have u used swype or FlexT9 or any other keyboard, even the new ICS is good. It is sooo much faster and easier using a swype style keyboard.
widget for brightness which i have setup in the pull down menu and on the home screen.
For me the small screen is a factor as i do a lot of reading. speaking of which i cannot find an autoscrolling book reader for my Ipad or her iphone which i love on my android. for those out there that care try Moon Reader+. its a life changer for my twice weekly 2hour flights (work in the rural/remote regions) i just recline back and the pages scrolls. i realise this is an app thing and not an iOS vs ICS but still i love that app.
anyway these are the first things on my mind. can you please tell me which things u weren’t able to do when u said you ” tried using the Nexus as my only device for a week and I was glad when I went back to my iPhone.” i dont see what u could be referring to. i would appreciate an objective answer without any attitude and i hope u dont feel i’ve given u attitude. i’m just really curious based off that line to hear ur objective reasoning.

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 9:50 AMI can search the server on my gmail account on my iphone 4.
I have never had trouble viewing pdf’s on the iphone.
I don’t have turn by turn navigation, but i use a map as a reference and actually know where i’m going.
My default programs are on my first page on my homescreen.
I can touch type on my iphones keyboard with little trouble (though not while walking, that is hard).
I conceed that screen brightness is more than a few taps away, but i’m on auto brightness anyway and i never have to worry about charging through the day.
I prefer the crisper text on iphone for reading.
Horses for courses. for me, the fact that the iphone “just works” is the biggest selling point. the technology is much more accessible than an android thing and that is important for me.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 10:04 PMone more thing, why do you have both and iPhone 4S and a Galaxy Nexus?

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 1:19 PMThis is quite a good deal although the HTC XE (dual core 1.5Ghz, 4.3″ Touchscreen, Beats audio) is also free on the $29 CAP too!
And it has awesome red detailing!!! WE LIKE RED DETAILING!!!

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 1:29 PM@Johnny P – Android phones take no longer than 10 minutes to setup. Simply setup Google account, restore contacts from sim… done!
I would argue that iPhones are notoriously slow for setup and cause major issues when people upgrade even to another “iDevice”. De-authorizing of apple accounts for iChat, no sim backup, iTunes in general etc etc etc…. Nothing but heartache for us in phone stores!!!
Dj_Noc88
Monday, February 13, 2012 at 1:37 PMQuick to “unbrick” (now ‘unbrickable’ via Wifi) but when it comes to data loss prevention, copying of sim contacts, photos etc Apple products can be a bit tedious!

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 6:32 AMHow about you enter iCloud account details and ur contacts, email, calendar, bookmarks, reader, photo sync, app sync, iTunes, match are all on. And why do you need sim card back up in this age!!! I think your store IT needs to update their manuals to the 21st century!!!!
