Lunchtime Deal: Galaxy Nexus $5/month on Vodafone $29 plan

Gizmodo AU

Vodafone’s getting seriously aggressive in its pricing recently. Its latest deal offers up the Galaxy Nexus on a $29 cap — already pretty tasty territory — with a $5 per month mobile payment, dropped down from $16 per month. OK, it’s a 24-month contract, which is a very long time indeed in Android terms, but that’s still a decent offering if you’re not keen on buying outright. [Vodafone via OzBargain]

Yeah, but at the end of the day, it’s still Vodafone.
Has anyone actually used their new network ? Is it any better than the big bucket of fail that their current network is ?

Nope it’s still useless most places. It’s ok in the Sydney CBD, but once I head out west it’s failtastic.

I’m on Vodafone, their network has improved a fair bit since the updates started. And they haven’t finished yet so it should still get better. So in short, yes it is better.

My gf lives south, there isn’t a phone call that doesn’t drop out after 5-10mins.

I ended up moving in with my girlfriend just so we wouldn’t have to call each other on our Vodafones…
Wollongong & Fairfield areas = fail
Campbelltown (where I work) is surprisingly great tho >.<

I still have a iphone 3g on optus paying $29 a month! i seriously need to upgrade, but it is tempting to wait for new android to be released like the galaxy s3. I only need a $29 plan so hopefully they cater to users like me. considering buying outright and going on live connected, $10.50 a month gets you a tonne of value.

Or you could buy the unlocked phone up front for $560 (from various places), and choose your own telco and plan.

E.g. TPG’s $10/mon plan is better than Voda’s $29 plan, uses the Optus network, same cost over 24 months, and no contract to tie you down.

Please don’t sign up vodafone. once you are locked in, they will bring you all sorts of troubles, billing, ling customer service and no good network. Does’t worth the effort and money.

Yeah avoid Vodafone at all costs. Terrible reception, no 3G, drop outs and failed calls all the time in Parramatta, Rhodes, Strathfield and Homebush. Fail
