SSDs represent an easy way to add some oomph to your computing experience, but they’re still in the relatively high priced zone, especially on a per GB basis. We’ve highlighted cheap SSDs recently, and Amazon’s currently in that game too selling Crucial’s SSD ranges for a fair price; at current exchange rates this 128GB SSD would cost around $165. Monday, February 6, 2012 at 2:58 PMI’ve not seen this. amazon defaults to Au$ for me and this showed up at just over Au$170, which is OK. They were even going to let me buy it, which is unusual for tech stuff.

Monday, February 6, 2012 at 2:50 PMI’m tempted to hit that deal up actually. I’ve been keen to try out a Windows 8 beta installation but didn’t want to have to mess up my current drive.
This drive ranks in at 70 on Passmarks benchmarking list

Monday, February 6, 2012 at 3:07 PMI’ve been doing a bit of rooting around, and it appears that the OCZ Agility 3 120GB SSD actually out-performs this Crucial drive, and is available in Australia from pccasegear for just $169 (+ $12 postage).
Crucial M4 128Gb:
passmark score = 2,077 (higher is better)
rank = 70 (lower is better)
price = ~AUD$180
OCZ Agility 3 120GB;
passmark score = 2,256
Rank = 59
Price = AUD$181
Think I’ll grab the OCZ Agility 3 instead.
