This one’s a bit of a workaround, but O’Reilly offers eBook versions of many of its titles considerably cheaper than their print counterparts. All you really need is the ISBN number of the title you want.
A thread over at OzBargain details what you need to do; given the steps I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that O’Reilly knows all about this and does nothing to discourage it. All you have to do is:
• Register an O’Reilly account at https://members.oreilly.com/account/login
• Go to https://members.oreilly.com/account/register/index, add the ISBN number.
• Go to https://members.oreilly.com/account/emedia, click “Print Books” tab. From there you can purchase the eBook versions directly.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 12:32 PMIt would be OK if it actually recognised the ISBN of prominent books. I typed in Frank Herberts Dune and several other prominent authors books and got squat! :(

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 1:12 PMO’Reilly do predominantly computer books (see http://shop.oreilly.com/category/ebooks.do), so novels etc are unlikely to be found there.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 3:56 PMI used to have some O’reilly e-books, which came as cheap copies with the hard copy when you bought it, but they had a weird setup where your books expired after a certain time, so I didn’t bother continuing. Anyone know if they still have that?
