After witnessing a fellow train passenger swiping an unattended iPhone, one brave chap decided to take action — in the form of video taping and yelling. Oh, the yelling. This could not be more hilarious and silly and proper and kind.
Screaming and pointing aside, manners were never abandoned. “I’m not gonna touch you, but you put that phone back!” screams the enraged witness. The pair trade arguments until the thief calmly exits the train and recedes into the night. Ah, the Brits. I have a feeling that if this took place in America, one of those gentlemen would have gone home with significant bruising.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:55 AMIn America you say? I am afraid that the bruising would have been far worse in just the U.K. would the thief have been either a chav or a 9 year old kid.
The guy screaming would’ve probably got stabbed and beaten to death with the actual stolen iPhone, or his own iPhone. He is lucky the thief was actually just some d*ck on a bicycle. Props for the guard for not giving a damn, like how it always goes on public transport in the U.K.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 12:36 PMThe screaming man (who is a mathematician by trade) just posted on his blog that there are an infinite amount of alternate universes where the story took on a different ending… One such example is that the phone actually was returned to the lady later that night whilst in another universe it turns out that the lady actually turned out to be a pervert who leaves phones on trains for young guys to steal after which she secretly logs on and records them in various states of undress for her own deviant sexual pleasure.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 12:58 PMWhy was the bag left unattended? Isn’t that just asking for trouble (or asking for your bag to be blow up as a bomb threat)?. And where was the lady in all of this?

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 1:34 PMI was waiting for the train to go and the next video is ‘you’re nicking someone’s laptop!’
In all seriousness, who confronts a thief like that, he’s lucky the other guy didn’t get physical.
Also: Shut the F up, what an annoying voice.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 3:35 PMKudos to him for taking a stand. Our society shouldn’t casually condemn the guy for his confrontation. Just because you may lack the certain man-hood to say something to the guy about stealing someone else’s phone doesn’t mean you should go bad mouth others. Imagine if you were on the receiving end, I’d be rather thankful of the man for standing up for me. You sir, should shut the f up :)

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 4:06 PMActually, it’s all well and good for you to call on manhood, etc, over the tubes, but for all he knew this guy kept knives on him.
He had the basically caught – had him on the camera, etc. Confronting him does nothing but yourself at risk, and putting the video up as though it is your personal crusade makes him look pretty arrogant.
If you’ve ever been trained in what to in a robbery (for example, I worked at a retail store through uni, so if someone comes to a register saying to empty the till), it’s note what they look like (check, he had a freaking video of him), note what they touch (the woman’s bag), stay calm and report them as soon as they leave the area.
I’d say that he didn’t remain calm.

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:46 PMThe greatest advantage to criminals is that they rely on people to only care about oneself. This mentality is why a crime can now happen in broad daylight and nothing is done except youtube videos. Yes there has been some bad things that have happened to the people who do stand up for another. But for every person who stands up to these petty crimes the more and more criminals must decide if the payoff is worth the risk. At the moment, most times payoff is high as risk is so low because no one does anything.
That’s my two cents
