Following iPad 3 introduction reports, Apple is trading at almost $US460 per share, a $US16 boost. That means it’s worth $US459.82 billion dollars. That’s more than Microsoft and Google combined.
Heck, it’s more than Google, Goldman Sachs, General Motors, Ford, Starbucks and Boeing together. [Economix]

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 9:28 AMI’m calling shenanigans on this article.
According to the latest on the NYSE and assuming that I’m looking at the right Symbol (http://www.nyse.com/about/listed/lcddata.html?ticker=AAPL)
Apple is currently trading at $493.17 and they have 31.5 million shares on the market, so that means they’re roughly worth $15.5 Billion and not $459 Billion.
Shoddy REPORTING.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:00 AMI am calling shenanigans on your research skills. From the latest information I can find there are roughly 900 Million shares outstanding on Apple. This would put their value at roughly US$450 billion.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2:39 PMCommon sense should probably tell you that a company with a near $100bn pile of cash is probably worth more than $15.5bn.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 9:38 PMFor the record, Apple have 932,370,000 shares outstanding x $476.68 share price = market cap of about 460 billion.
For comparison, Australia’s biggest company – BHP, have 3,211,691,105 shares outstanding x $36.30 share price = market cap of about 117 billion.
And BHP pay a dividend… 51 cents per share.

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 12:29 AMNet worth is just a Game people Play….
It is all Perceived worth…. nothing substantial behind it…..
The company can’t spend the net worth.. That is just for traders to play games with, a strong share price is good for the company, because if the price is high compared to real company worth no-one will do a takeover (it is too expensive with no profit).. if the Price is low, and people are willing to sell (once they realise the stock is toxic) it is much easier for a takeover.. talk to the Berkshire-Hathaway board on Take-over targets.
