If you ever wanted to see a man in a go-kart hit close to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds, then you’ve come to the right place.
The Linde E1, built by “warehouse truck” company Linde Material Handling, uses an engine from a forklift and was constructed purely for record-breaking purposes. It weighs 160kg without the driver and the engine can put out 150nm (Newton metres) of torque. A lithium-ion battery, rated for 96V and a peak output of 50kW, powers the thing. The maximum speed is around 120km/h, but I can’t imagine anyone still being inside the kart at this speed!
The clip itself was recorded in Oschersleben, Germany, on April 24 2010, but it doesn’t look like anyone (well, us) caught wind of it until recently. So watch and enjoy.

What and how you’re driving is irrelevant.

Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 12:09 PMIf you wanted to say Newton metres, why not use Nm instead of nm (which is nanometres)?

Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 12:14 PMThe certificate from GWR says 2011 not 2010 so you aren’t that far behind. Only about a year not two! Next video is what does it do in a standing quarter mile?

Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10:07 PMMy 125 race kart that runs the same tyres should hit ~125kph at some of the faster tracks no problems. The KZ’s? they’ll do 160+ before the run out of race tracks (not power)

Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 8:33 AMThe estimated battery life is 20 sec. To then regain full charge you must charge for 5 days… Lol

Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 4:46 PMuctually its more like the other way around !
the amount of distance you get from a charge from your drive pack depends on how you drive.
if you floor the throttle every time, in Any EV, the distance will be greatly reduced.
mind you a 96v 50kw pack is pretty hefty. the cart should get plenty of run time. no problems.
and, No it will NOT take 5 days to recharge 1 if anything, its more like 5 hours.

Monday, January 23, 2012 at 1:34 PM150 torques..
That’s huge.
Lots of people fail to understand just how much more torque is available from electric over IC.
The only bugbear at the moment is just battery capacity and that’s changing very very rapidly.
