Whether you’re at home or stuck in prison, dropping the soap in the shower is something you’ll want to avoid altogether. So, once again, magnets have improved the human condition with this soap holder that ditches the rope.
Now I will admit, it doesn’t have quite the same alliteration as “soap on a rope”, but this magnetic soap holder is far more aesthetically pleasing. And it won’t look like your shower is frequented by lumber jacks.
One section of the holder attaches to the wall, while you simply jam the other into a bar of soap until it sticks. The two are connected via a magnet, and I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume they’re made from stainless steel, so they don’t immediately rust after your first. At $US40 it’s unfortunately quite a bit more expensive than a short length of rope, but totally worth it for those of us with slippery hands. [A+R Store via swissmiss]

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 12:57 PMAgreed, had these when I was a kid… my gran had one. And I’m nearly 40 now, so at least 30 years ago.
Also, $40 for a steel ‘cap’ and a magnet… I think they’re lathering your hands with soap suds so you can’t grip onto your cash!

Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 9:36 AMThis is wrong. Why does a TV need to be built into everything these days? And built into a TENT for an OUTDOOR, tengcolohic-bullshit free experience, no less?
WTF?
Monday, January 16, 2012 at 8:20 AMI had one of those in 1970! Try an image search for “magnetic soap holder”.

Monday, January 16, 2012 at 9:47 AMHow exactly is this “worth it for those of us with slippery hands”?
I don’t know about Andrew Liszewski but my hands aren’t magnetic.
It’s an interesting alternative to a soap holder, but it doesn’t stop you dropping it.

Monday, January 16, 2012 at 1:39 PMIts all fun and games until the day when the soap has dissolved enough the let go of the jagged metal piece inserted and ending up somewhere it should never be…
Think my grand mother had one of these in the late 70′s early 80′s.
