The Kivic One is a rectangular-shaped brick that’s meant to be an Apple TV for your car’s entertainment system. Or also an Apple TV (sort of) for Android phones. Or a less Apple-ly Apple TV you can use anywhere.
The idea of the Kivic One is that it streams media (video, audio, pictures) via AirPlay, DNLA or Wi-Fi to any screen you can plug a HDMI (for your home TV) or RCA cable (for your car TV?) into (it has both ports).
Kivic expects the Kivic One to release sometime in March for $US100-$US200.

Monday, January 9, 2012 at 8:31 PMWhat’s this “Apple TV ” crap? The title and description are confusing because they are wrong. From what read about this device it’s a capable media streamer. Is the Apple TV seriously the only device of that kind you can think of?
I really don’t mean to be or like to be so negative and curmudgeonly all the time. But a lot of the writing about gadgets from these American guys that the Australian Gizmodo has been filled with over the summer so far seems so inexperienced in the world of technology…
It’s as if they’ve only ever been exposed to a very small amount of it and struggle to really come to grips with new and different things.

Monday, January 9, 2012 at 9:29 PMApple TV is one of the most popular streamers and I think it refers to it to underscore the streamer point. Agree that saying “The Kivic One Is A Media Streaming TV For Your Car” would have been far less confusing.
In this case, think it’s more a symptom of the frantic pace of reporting from CES show floor, and don’t agree with the whole “throughout summer” thing. Either way, thanks for the note, will be paying closer attention on the editing side of things. Cheers!
