The Ice Cream Sandwich Desktop For Windows

Flickr user David Molina wanted to bring the beauty of Android Ice Cream Sandwich to his desktop, and with a little tweaking and the right tools, we would have to say he definitely succeeded. The final result is a desktop that looks sharp and definitely has a lot in common with the mobile OS that inspired it.

If you want the same look for your Windows system, here are the components you’ll need:

The list of components for this one is pretty hefty, but you can see the results are worth it. Plus, with the base elements you can tweak the desktop to only include the components you like — you can build your own Ice Cream Sandwich desktop with just the wallpaper, RocketDock and the icon pack, and leave the rest off if you so choose. Still, if you have trouble getting everything set up the way you like, check our our tutorial to getting started with Rainmeter, or drop by David’s Flikcr page to compliment him and ask how he managed to make everything work.

Oh look, the creator of that skin made something I don’t like and instead of respecting his work, I’m going to piss all over it

Oh finally, an inferior mortal has now come to a page where it clearly states ice cream sandwich and shot away his low life, incorrect statement.

This looks really cool and fun!
Unfortunately that’s a long list of stuff to install and have running… I hate having components running on my comp in the background when I need most of that power for artwork. But this looks marvelous and I commend the effort!

Well everything is basically programs running the in the background such as theme Windows default theme. but i know how you feel, all those unnecessary programs, but i can tell you that the finish-end is gorgeous. oh and there is quite alot of customisation. ‘give it a try’

It looks terrible in my opinion. ICS looks nice on a phone, but this.. this is bad. Room for improvement though, and perhaps down the line I’ll change my mind.

I’ll take the wallpaper, I don’t care about anything else. Whatever makes people happy though I guess.
