The Best New Big-Ass TV: Samsung Super OLED

Go to the window right now. Look out onto the real world. Now imagine that it looks better. That’s how incredible the Samsung Super OLED is.

With its incredibly vivid colours and deep, dark, bottom-of-the-Marianas-Trench level blacks, the Samsung Super OLED blew us away. And then there’s its incredible picture, thinness and tiny bezel. The 3D TV will be available sometime in 2012, and will probably empty more than a few bank accounts.

Oh god, I just jizzed my pants… Finally, after 4 years, I have found a TV worth upgrading to.

Gotta hand it to Samsung for developing the right kind of display technology that seems to just get better and better every few years. This sort of stuff must make Sony, LG and others go sulk in a dark corner somewhere…

Considering Samsung manufacture the panels for most other companies aside from Hitachi/Fujitsu and LG, wouldn’t surprise me they’d have a cry about it. Wonder how LG are feeling now after releasing that OLED screen the other day, then to see this thing today. Yep, back in the corner indeed ;)

They probably feel that customers will walk into a store, and think LG looks better than Sony/Sharp/Toshiba/etc and hope they choose them over Samsung because of the Wii remote.

…will all depend on the price. If I can pick up one of those new 55″ plasmas for $2,500 and this thing’s gonna cost me at least $4,000 I know which one i’ll be buying. If it’s within $500 or so I’d definitely go the ‘Sung.

Yes these new TV’s are very nice and I’d love to get one however, … they are ridiculously expensive and at this time just a rich mans toy. I’ll wait a couple of years and let the new technology find it’s level. Hopefully by then, glasses-less 3D will be the norm too!
