Sony’s Google TV Streamer Picks Up Where The Logitech Revue Left Off

Logitech may have balked on their relationship with the Google TV platform, but Sony’s new Google TV streamer is hard evidence that the company is fully committed to the Android-based IPTV ecosystem.

The GS7 comes complete with the same touch pad-equipped, motion sensitive remote the Blu-ray player has, and provides access to all the same Google TV apps. Plus it has a picture-in-picture mode that allows you to surf the web while watching TV. If you already have a Blu-ray player but are interested in what Google TV has to offer, this may be the product for you. It’ll be available in the first half of 2012.

Sony also has a new Blu-ray player running the latest Google TV 2.0 software. In addition to offering access to the likes of Netflix, Hulu and Pandora for the US, the GP9 supports 3D content and has a touch-pad remote with three-axis motion control. It’ll arrive mid year. [Sony]
