Sony’s Android Tablet Just Got $US100 Cheaper

Sony’s weird-looking — but pretty good! — Tablet S has only been out for four months, and Sony’s already slashing the price by $US100. It seems Sony, like other manufacturers, was a tad optimistic on what people are willing to pay for an Android tablet. AU: We’re checking with Sony to see if Australia will get the price drop too.

That Sony was quick to recognise that is good news for you; if you’re in the market for an Android tablet you could do a lot worse than the Tablet S at this price point.. Head over to Sony right now and you can pick up the 16GB version of the 9.4″ tablet for $US399. The 32GB version now costs $US499. [Sony via Maximum PC]

“It seems Sony, like other manufacturers, was a tad optimistic on what people are willing to pay for an Android tablet.” So true… see.. people are willing to drop a month’s expendable salary for an iPad.. I get that.. but the Android market is different.

Still.. I am hesitant to pick up the Sony tab.. it just isn’t as good as the Transformer. I’m waiting for the Transformer to drop in price just a tad more, hopefully once the Prime comes out (about 3-6 months after that) the price on the regular Transformers will drop a little.

Keep an eye on ozbargain. Certain retailers have done the 32gb transformer with dock for under $400.
