Who would have guessed that Samsung’s Bada operating system would end up this way (hint: everybody). The Korean company has announced that it will be merging its entry-level smartphone platform with the Intel-backed Tizen operating system.
Of course, Intel has had nothing but success when it comes to mobile platforms, so the new OS is destined for levels of success only dreamed of by the likes of Android and Apple.
Tizen itself is a combination of two Linux based operating systems, LiMo and Meego, and was developed to try and gain wider industry and consumer support. Obviously it didn’t work, so Samsung is throwing in the Bada operating system to try and boost its success rate.
You can’t balame them for trying, although my guess is that they’re actually going to create a horrible freak of an OS that will die a slow and painful death.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 3:56 PMI had a bit of a play with the new Bada and its not bad. It’s certainly not bada than the last of the Symbions. It worked well for a pick-up and use operating system with not enough complexity as the competition. This alteast filled a space in the market before the Windows Phone 7 came along.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 4:05 PMI had a Samsung Wave for a few months and it was fine. Bugger-all apps but that’ pretty much as many as I need.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 4:20 PMI recently had a Wave as a temporary replacement for my iPhone 4, while it was being repaired.
It was so awful, I bought a 4S before Vodafone came through with my insurance claim.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 5:01 PMI currently have a wave – its horrible, it over heats when ever i charge it – turns itself off – its constantly freezing so i have to take the bat out to get it working again – the lack of aps is annoying- the facebook component is a joke and horrible to use. when ever i text someone a stupid screen pops up for no reason asking if i want to attach files or what not to the text – I honestly don’t think getting a bada update or whatever would really fix anything – it should never have been made!! MAJOR fail.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 6:02 PMI love my Windows phone. Actually, I use it in combination with an iPad2. The windows phone is used as a phone. It keeps an amalgamation address book from all my sources and has an amalgamation feed from all my social networks.
I don’t think I use for windows phone for more than 5 minutes at a time and most times it is less then 15 seconds to; check my train timetable, check the weather, check my social updates, respond to an MSN/facebook message. I stopped using my iPhone 3GS when I got the iPad, so the Windows Phone worked out as a better replacement than an iPhone4 or Galaxy S that was going to be able to do so much more but still not the basics as fast and or slick as Metro.
Overall, I’d agree that the Windows Phone makes a bad device for someone who wants to spend alot of time with it or even using it as a primary mobile companion. Browsing the web often or writing long emails. It also sucks with games, which is ironic considering the “xbox live” name. It does tell me atleast when my friends are playing what games on the xbox.. Actually, it does social gaming better than the rest, but it doesn’t do games well, which defeats the purpose. Even the loading times are frustrating.
I only used bada for a bit, and the guy showing it to me was a fanboi, so he was showing me all the things that worked with his hacked firmware.
But anyway. There are all kinds of phones for all kind of people. Just saying the quick pickup and use people are more likely to get WP7 instead of Bada these days, because Metro is quicker and easier to customise the basics.
