New Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone Details?

We adore the Lumia 800. It has that historically lovely Nokia build, and is terrifically small. Like — the size is perfect. Now it’s getting a bigger brother.

PocketNow has what it claims are the Nokia Lumia “Ace” 900′s full specs, headed for AT&T:

4.3-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, eight-megapixel camera, and a capacious 1830mAh battery.

Although it will almost certainly be sold carrier locked, Ace — like most modern Nokia handsets — will contain the 1700MHz band necessary for T-Mobile 3G, so we imagine that a workaround to unlock that functionality will arrive with the quickness. At 160 grams, Ace weighs 18 more grams than the Lumia 800, likely due to the combination of a bigger screen and LTE radio.

On the one hand, why screw around with such a perfectly svelte phone’s form? On the other, the broader display might be easier on your eyes than the 800′s 3.7-incher. We won’t know for sure until we’re holding it. [PocketNow]

Well there’s a good sized market for larger screens.. so it makes sense to get one out there with a screen size for that market. An iPhone is 3.5″, while the Galaxy S2 is 4.3″.. Nokia are just delivering to both markets. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Personally I couldn’t go back to anything smaller than 4.3″ now that I’ve had my Samsung for so long..

Is it though? On other devices you may need more.. but does this O/S require a lot of RAM? I am thinking this is the style of phone that uses a MicroSD card for the actual storage of files rather than built in storage.

Your RAM isn’t used as storage for files, it holds actively running programs and data that you are processing.

That being said, depending what the multi tasking is like 512 indeed might be fine, I don’t know how windows phones work

i love the wp7 OS, and my mozart is ok with 512MB RAM. I agree that it ‘doesnt’ need more, but if it has more it would be better :)

the thing is, more powerful ‘apps’ will utilize the additional RAM. until we get more RAM we cant get more powerful apps.

that being said, ill still get this (or something like it) when it comes to au.

But at what cost would more be if they added it.

Why? It seems more than adequate in my current phone. Android may be hungrier but WP7 runs like greased lightning with 512KMb.

I’m a long term iOS user and think it’s time to switch to WP…The majority of my phone use is email and this would be perfect. IMO there just hasn’t been a WP handset that makes me want to switch, till this! Come on AU release=D

I agree, i am also a long term iOS user and have been waiting for a good replacement that wasnt just the same old software etc… WP is definitely the way to go and if Nokia can keep making these cool phones it will be awesome.

after reading so many reviews on so many phones and listening to people i have come to a general conclusion that there is a wanting to keep phones a more manageable size like the Iphone and Lumia 800. I understood writely or wrongly that the only reason these phones are so huge (lap top paddles) is for Android to get a good resolution like the i4. Nokia, i luv ya but so often youve missed out bits causing us to wait for the next model. Look fwd to the 900 but if you had a unit same size as the 800 with features of the 9, we would be in like flin.
