Motorola Razr Maxx: Android With All Day Battery

We liked Motorola’s updated RAZR. It’s crazy-thin, water-tight, and has a unique form factor. However, battery life was certainly sub-awesome. The RAZR MAXX is a little thicker, but it should keep you untethered from outlets ’till bedtime.

The RAZR MAXX promises 21 hours on a single charge. 21 hours of what? We do not know, but if it’s 21 hours of LTE video streaming I will wear a dress to my next CES press conference. Your milage may vary, basically. The original Droid RAZR is the world’s thinnest smartphone at just 7.1mm. The MAXX is 9mm, so it loses that super-duper thinness, but it’s certainly not chubby. It’s got 32GB of storage, and it’ll run you $US299.99 with a new two-year contract.

You can also now get an original RAZR in purple. Because, y’know… purple is cool. That one has 16 GB on-board memory and it’ll run you $US200. Finally, a phone to match my platform disco boots.

As you’d expect, no word on Australian availability yet. Stay tuned.

Seriously the batteries of these smartphones is just atrocious. They need to stop worrying about releasing phones with 4.5″ screens and 7mm think and actually fix these horrible battery life(s).

I don’t think there is any smartphone that can claim to have an ‘All Day Battery’. An all day battery should be able to last a whole day (24hours) with everything turned on, Blue Tooth, Wi-Fi, screen, GPS, incoming and outgoing calls.

And it should have 3G turned on, be able to run a live wallpaper, at least 1 email account sync’d and 1 social networking service (Facebook or Twitter) sync’d. I think its only fair that the battery life be described by manufacturers based on what is normal use, otherwise they should remove features if it assists in draining the battery in less than 24 hours. We pay so much for smartphones yet we need to have most of the features turned off just to make the battery last for a day. Thats absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable in 2012.

I hate how they make smartphones so big now. 4 inch is really the biggest they should go. 4.3 is borderline for me. Not everyone has big hands.

    contrarian here,

i have multiple batteries, of which i hardly have need of. I have a custom rom on my i9000, which drains about 20% battery every day of hardcore use + 3G internet. I like 4.3′s and the 5.5inch Note is very attractive to me. I don’t have big hands, but i’m fine with holding it lightly instead of a 2inch screen ,Nokia-style deathgrip.

Hi, after many many months researching I decided on the Optus Motorola XT910 as three phone of choice. It’s very versatile and comes with decent accessories as part of the deal, however as we all know the battery life is short, the SIM refreshes itself, the screen feels hot, and there are artifacts in behind the screen at low light. Not impressed..it’s rude to release an upgrade of hardware so close to release.
