This is not a bad way to spend $50. Australia Post has got the Vodafone pocket Wi-Fi Data Plus startup pack, which includes a portable Wi-Fi device plus 6GB of data with a 90 day expiry, selling for $49.50. That’s half price, and a lot cheaper than you’d expect given it includes the mobile modem too. [Lasoo]

Monday, January 9, 2012 at 4:08 PMDrew, my thoughts exctaly,
16 song album from itunes took 4 hours to download yesterday!
Gosh
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 1:43 PMDoes anyone know how the coverage compares to an iPhone 4/4s’s? I’ve been using my friend’s (Vodaphone) iPhone Hotspot in my apartment every now and then since he had a 4 and it’s always been decent here.
Patrick
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:47 PMDefine decent? On Telstra I get 6.32 Mbps here: ozspeedtest.com.
Gosh
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 3:57 PMProbably no more than 1 Mbps, what I meant is it compares to discount Optus resellers, I’m not willing to pay the premium for Telstra.
Lance
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 4:10 PMhow are you paying premium prices, I pay $39 a month for 8 GIG with telstra, voda’s normal price is 40 for 6, and its crap
Tim
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 10:33 PMTelstra costs a lot. $39 on amaysim gets me 4GB and unlimited calling and texting!

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 1:27 AMFor $39 a month (12 month contract) with Voda you recieve 12gb of data.
For $39 a month (24 month contract) with Telstra you recieve 8gb of data.
If you have a mobile with Vodafone you can drop that down to $30 for 10gb.
You are paying premium my friend, and I wait patiently for the day you are forced to deal with Telstra customer service.
Patrick
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 10:39 AMI agree that i am paying a premium, but i think its very worthwhile. The savings with Telstra come when you bundle everything together with homephone, but I still pay a lot more than I would elsewhere.
Telstra customer service is so hit and miss, it took me a week to activate my wife’s iPhone, something you would expect to be simple. But then fixing a complicated billing problem took 5 minutes and 1 call.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 12:03 PMGood point, Telstra definitely wins if you have a landline, mobile and internet bundled with them.
But I think Voda will always have the student/tourist/young person living out of home market on lockdown.

Monday, January 9, 2012 at 3:57 PMPocket WiFi 2 or 1?
Lance
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 8:26 AMand you would be lucky to be able to use 1 gig of that data, Vodafone can keep there crap service, and Optus too! when they start to provide a reliable service
