The Lumia 900 is a gorgeous phone — gorgeous enough to make waves if it hadn’t been beaten to the party by its little sister the Lumia 800. Or maybe two sisters, if you count the closely related N9.
The 900 feels great. The screen is especially nice, and it’s all the more impressive because it’s running the same 800×480 Windows Phone standard (confirmed). It’s like the HTC Titan, except the colour performance on the ClearBlack AMOLED screen might actually look a little better.
The ESPN app, which has been MIA since its announcement, was in effect, and even though the Nokia reps said that the software was a “little buggy,” we had a smooth experience, and the app worked perfectly. The coolest part was a “social” screen in the app that scans the social media landscape of sports. It’s pretty cool and makes a ton of sense fo anyone who’s got a “sports” list on Twitter that’s painfully out of date.
The LTE service was subject to the Las Vegas CES week tax, so we weren’t even able to run speed tests. But you can bet we’ll those results for you as soon as they’re available.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 3:46 PMIs it just me or does the screen look really huge? It almost looks twice the screen size of an iPhone.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 3:59 PMYes, the screens are huge and theyre awesome!

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 4:29 PM4.3″ is damn big for a phone anyway, but being AMOLED the black backgrounds blend perfectly into the bezel, making the screen seem even bigger.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 3:59 PMLooks like it has the bands for Telstra LTE too, I hope the international version keeps the LTE.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 4:05 PMIs that blue thing a case that can be removed? or is it permanent? I like the rest of the phone but not the case..

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 9:24 PMIt’s the same as trying to remove the ‘silver cover on an iPhone 4S’. Can’t happen. There’s black and magenta too if you don’t like blue cyan.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 9:33 PMIt will come in other colours.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 4:18 PM@Barry – its not “really huge”, its only a 4.3″ screen. So its the same size screen as most Android phones these days.
@Light487 – no, you cannot change ‘covers’ with this model, instead you purchase the colour you want.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 10:16 PMGreat looking device! Just so you know – there is an online petition (directed at Telstra) to try and get them interested in bringing the Lumia 900 4G to Australia (it will need to be localised to an 1800band). Link is here: http://www.wpdownunder.com :)

Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 8:27 PMHow do people fit these huge smartphones in their pocket? Or are we supposed to carry some kind of pretentious man bag for all our things.
AnthonyZ
Monday, January 16, 2012 at 1:38 PMI’m not pretentious in the slightest but I do sport a man bag. It will become home to this. The phone looks sleek enough to not take much space away from my chapstick, cologne, prescription polarised Ray Bans, coconut tan oil, handkerchief and Omas fountain pen, however.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 2:18 PMIf they had all the 900 features including the front camera no matter how rare it was used it would be perfect. I have always used Nokia but so many times they leave things out and you hang on for the next model. No Matter, while i dont want a huge phone like the Galaxy Nexus, im way keen to have a look at the 900. C’mon Nokia, you can get to the top again…
