Kanye’s Insane Tech Startup

Like a Mount Vesuvius covered in Louis Vuitton, Kanye West just ended his Twitter dormancy with an enormous late night rant. The subject? Not Taylor Swift, but tech, architecture, education — the list goes on. He’s assembling a superteam.

With Kanye’s own verbal mea culpa in mind — “excuse me… I just get excited at the possibilities… the more excited I get… the more grammatical errors you’ll see…” — there’s a lot to dig through.

Yeezy begins with a da Vinci quote we know guided Apple to the current day: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Leonardo knew it, Jobs knew it, and Kanye seems to as well. From there, he meanders through his attempts to break into the fashion world — so far stymied. The retrospection continues to little grad school Kanye doodling Nike designs instead of paying attention in class, and then we’re sucked back to the future:

I was just discussing becoming the creative director for the Jetson movie and someone on the call yelled out.. you should do a Jetsons tour!

So apparently there’s going to be a new Jetsons movie? No time to stop! Kanye hits creative rambling hyperspace:

Chalk part of it up to insomnia, but it sounds like Kanye wants to create a 21st century Bauhaus meets CERN. Does it completely make sense? Not really! Is it feasible? Who knows! Is Kanye one of the only people creative and crazy enough to make something like this happen? Probably!

As much as his fashion line has so far fizzled, and the Air Yeezy isn’t exactly design within reach, the man knows his shit. Go to a Kanye West concert and try to feel like you aren’t in rap Tron. The man turned himself into a melancholy singing robot, dropped a nuclear bomb on Twitter when he first arrived, and released his last album (of the year?) directly to digital. He’s bonkers and brilliant, a hip hop Wagner. And he loves the technology that gives him his neon He-Man powers. This is no dilettante. [Kanye West]
