Unless this is some sort of poetic retail conceptual art, which I doubt, this is probably the most botched product display of all time. Clearly, this “Unlocked Rugged Mobile” is simply bullshit, and doesn’t “float on water”.
At least they decorated the fish tank. [Majikland via Copyranter]

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 7:18 AMThe real phones do float, it was only the dummy phones that were sent out that sank. I know this due to being comrades still with many of friends that still work at Dick Smith.

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 12:17 PMThat just makes it even worse! How hard can it be to make a hollow demonstrator phone float?????

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:11 AMGotta have been something like 2010, haven’t sold those phones in a long time. Stores were meant to hang the phone in netting and place photos of the thing in action. Generally water and electronic stores don’t mix.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:03 AMObviously you need to turn the phone on before it floats.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:09 AMThis has been doing the rounds for over a year. Sure, whoever et up the display was an idiot, but it’s a plastic dummy phone, so no, it doesn’t float.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:11 AMTypical of Dick Smith “Techsperts” don’t know what the hell they’re doing…

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 12:11 PMIt could also have injested water from being in he tank for so long. I’ve seen many a tough waterproof camera take on water after being in the water for longer than the hour they are tested to withstand.
Or it could just be a shit dummy.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:38 PMThe point is that it doesn’t give potential customers much confidence, still a fail wether it is a dummy phone or the real thing. If I saw that I wouldn’t buy the product.
