Why Graphic Designers Must Hate Christmas

It doesn’t matter where they work, December always means one thing for graphic designers — Christmas cards. And this year Viewpoint Creative has given us a behind-the-scenes look at what really goes into their creation.

I’d like to say the hellish process has been over-exaggerated for comedic purposes. But having created many corporate Christmas greetings over the years, the back and forth and vague feedback in this video are pretty accurate. Almost too accurate. In fact, I’m going to go bust my Wacom tablet over my knee so I never have to go through that again. [Vimeo via John Nack]

How is that any different to any other graphics job? Thankfully I have not had to do a work Xmas card for more than a decade.

Because you’re not dealing with an external client, your entire office wants input and they can harass you about it at any time. Plus, they don’t have to worry about paying for changes.

All so true! Corporate Christmas cards are a nightmare because your own work is the client. You can’t charge for changes.. You HAVE to go with most of the stupid suggestions and everyone wants input!
