Why do flat screen wall-mounts have to be so damned complicated? They’re a pain to set up and go askew the moment you even think about jiggling a cable. The Hangman system avoids these problems with two ingeniously interlocking aluminium bars.
The Hangman is simple to install. One aluminium bracket is mounted onto the wall, the other onto the back of the TV — the brackets then securely lock into one another. That’s it — the whole install takes about 10 minutes. Now granted, this doesn’t allow you to swivel the TV as some other wall-mounts can, but how often does that need arise?
The Hangman can support TV’s from 32-65 inches and sells for $US30 on Amazon as well as other retailers. [Cool Tools]

Friday, December 16, 2011 at 5:52 AMHi,
I’m sure this works fine, but have to say I swivel my tv all the time. In my lounge room it doesn’t really work having the TV in the corner so it faces one of the lounges front on. This is fine when it’s just my wife and I at home but as soon as there are guests. It’s a bit nicer for everyone if the TV is twisted a little towards the other lounge.
My 2c – it definitely does look like a v.simple bracket and I bet it could handle a lot of weight.

Must be talking about those adjustable hangers, which are there for a reason, personally the bracket on my 42″ TV is too solid to actually move. The bracket shown above is a very old idea, it’s a french cleat. Builders use timber versions all the time to hang cupboards. I do think the one above will make it very hard to get to the connectors and whatnot at the back of the TV though!.

Friday, December 16, 2011 at 2:41 PMMost flat TV’s have downward facing connectors now to keep the TV as close to the wall as possible, Before this, I’ve been to many customers houses where holes are punched through the wall to accomodate the cable jack length… I must admit tho, this should make lifting the TV off a lot easier, the ones with the 2 seperate tilting arms are a piece of shit when trying to mount a 60″ plasma…. I’ve seen some pretty good, and some pretty horrible homemade brackets too…
