The Android Wears Prada

Want in on the smartphone revolution but you’re too tres chic to get something that actually looks like hardware? Peep this Android handset from Prada and LG. If you’re a fashionista, you’d probably let Meryl Streep humiliate you for one.

Hey Prada Phone 3.0, work it, you fierce thang. We knew it was coming, and now it’s official. The most unique component here is the custom UI they’ve thrown on here. Black and white? How very! And see how the icons kinda look like BlackBerry icons of olde? That shit is vintage, son. Classic look. Classic!

Looks like there’s some pretty decent hardware under all of that makeup, though. You get a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor, an 8MP camera, HSPA+ radios, a bright 4.3-inch WVGA display, expandable memory, and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with a promised upgrade to 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). There’s rumour of an NFC chip, but we can’t confirm that yet. Personally, I’m not into custom UIs, but at least this one is original. Don’t worry, the browser and the rest of the phone is in colour. Oh those vibrant ceruleans! It’s looking like an early 2012 release, and while there’s no official word on pricing yet, plan on taking out a second mortgage. [LG via SlashGear]
