This is simply genius. Since smartphone cameras don’t have lens mounts, attaching a macro or zoom lens usually requires a cumbersome case. But by embedding one in an elastic band, this macro lens can easily be used on any smartphone.
If I had to nitpick, I’d point out that the Macro Cell Lens Band does end up covering the iPhone 4′s flash, but I never use it for anything other than a torch anyways, so I’m OK with that. And since the band can be used on any smartphone, that may not actually be an issue for other users.
For just $US15 it’s the cheapest and easiest way to add macro capabilities to your phone, and here’s to hoping they’ve got a wide angle and zoom version in the works, or a single band that includes all three. [Photojojo]

Friday, December 9, 2011 at 8:15 AMMaybe make a clear band (so you can still see the entire screen).
Also make that band a bit wider since that looks like it would probably snap/tear where the lens is sitting after a few stretches .
And yeah, add a few lenses or at least the option to add more.
I expect a percentage for increasing your sales! ;)

Friday, December 9, 2011 at 9:54 AMnow THAT’s good.
You can also just slip it down a little to use the normal cam!
Agreed with Sevrin surely they can make a clear one.

Friday, December 9, 2011 at 9:54 AMI wonder… would having a little lens like that over the LED have any effect on lighting?

Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11:06 AMAlso would this not cover the ambient light sensor on the front.. making the screen darker every time it’s on unless you manually change brightness?
Why don’t they have something the same width, but which clips on like one of the hard cover clear clip-on cases? Clear, doesn’t get in the way of anything, and an all around genius idea that I should invent.

Friday, December 9, 2011 at 3:06 PMAmbient Light sensors STINK. Most of the people I know have turned theirs off, because they go on and off at the wrong times, and quite frankly sir, I don’t appreciate that.

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 10:04 AMI think this is a really great idea! Realistically, the flash affects your photo in an annoying way. You could always use Camera+ to edit in some light, if you really want.
