Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter Review: Gizmodo Reader Video

Gizmodo AU

Giz reader Geoff was another great finalists in our CES competition. He picked up a Sony tablet for this vid explaining Logitech’s (holds breath) Wireless Speaker Adapter for Bluetooth audio devices. Longest product name ever. Check out his video review:

Bit cheaper above if you want one ($39 with free shipping I believe). I don’t have any relation to the store, just I’ve been considering grabbing one

I have one, am yet to rig it up, but im pretty sure yer not going to get proper 5.1 sound out of this, just stereo. You’r existing 5.1 sound system might allow you to spread the signal across all 5.1 channels but don’t be surprised if the sound quality just isn’t quite there. I have apt-x bluetooth speakers and transmitters and find them superior to just regular bluetooth. But i agree with the reviewer, using this instead of spending $300 on a dock makes more sense especially if you already have a decent 2.1 system in the house somewhere.

Yeah I was under the impression it is probably stereo as well. Given my devices are Apple products (iPad and iPhone), I’ve been leaning towards an Apple TV which will also take care of some of the shortcomings mentioned in the review (HDMI, video) at the loss of working with other devices. It’s a bit more expensive mind at closer to $100 vs the $39 unit in the link above.

Is a nice looking unit to. Larger than I expected having seen one in the flesh for the first time this weekend, but not so large that it isn’t portable. To me it (or an Apple TV) seems like it’d be handy for taking on trips etc given it will almost certainly be pretty easy to wire into a hotel rooms TV system to take advantage of the TVs speakers. That probably appeals to me more than home use actually.
