Leather Armour For Stormtroopers Who Prefer Harleys

If you’re going to the trouble of getting yourself a set of Stormtrooper armour , it might as well be practical right? So instead of flimsy moulded plastic, these suits are made from genuine leather protecting motorcyclists from road rash.

Interestingly enough, the grade-A cowhide leather is moulded just like the plastic typically used for Stormtrooper armour, ensuring that all of the angular detailing on the torso, midsection and legs are perfectly replicated. The various components are adjustable too, allowing the suit to be customised to different body fits, while necessary details like a front zipper have been cleverly hidden to help sell the effect.

Available in Shadow Trooper Black or Imperial White colours, only 500 of the suits will be produced with a complete outfit setting you back somewhere in the neighbourhood of $US1150. Just be aware that those matching Stormtrooper helmets are not designed for safety. You’ve seen how poorly they protect troopers in the Star Wars movies, so make sure you opt for a real helmet instead. [UD Replicas via Chip Chick]

I do’nt understand what the point of this is if the helmets aren’t designed to be used on the bike.

    Entirely useless.

Why don’t they make storm trooper safety helmets? You’d look like a complete nonce riding a bike in this armour with a normal helmet.

Shadow trooper armour with helmet on a black duke would be awesome.

Just paint up a Simpson helmet. That’ll do the trick.

Let me rephrase that for you – “You’d look like a complete nonce riding a bike in this armour.” :)

perhaps customise the helmet you get to fit over the top of an approved motorcycle helmet. Shouldn’t be too hard with some glue etc

Stormtrooper helmets were designed to look cool on screen and evoke WWII stormtroopers. They’re completely impractical in a crash. There’s no neck support, no visor, and there’s no bloody way these things reach safety specifications in Australia.

I’m certain it would be possible to make something safe that at least mostly looks like a stormtrooper helmet. even if it has to be oversized a bit.

Not sure that Neck Support is usual in MC helmets…. (may be as an add-on, not in the helmet)
Last few I wore, specifically avoid neck support, as the ones which used to do that job (in the 70′s) ended up crushing vertebrae…
(HANS isn’t used in Bike racing as far as I can tell…)

Would look freaking ridiculous stuck on the outside of a real motorbike helmet because they’re quite, quite large and the stoomtrooper stuff would make it look even bigger. Your stormtrooper costume would look like something from the Lego version.

I would like to know when they will be making the suits to look like Scout Troopers?

You puut a 10 cent helmet on a 10 cent head…..I think I’ll stick with my Kushitani suit and Shoei helmet thanks. I know these guys know how to make gear for motorcyclists.

$1150 is actually a decent price for quality riding kit.
