Self-portraitist clickflashwhirr has been snapping shots of her mug every day for over a year — and that’s nothing new on the net. But averaging 500 of those snaps into one artificial face? Beautifully creepy.
The digital composite was done by Tiemen Rapati, who explains he “simply [counted] the individual RGB values for each pixel and for each portrait, and [divided] those values by the number of portraits”. The result is a slightly hazy, easy on the eyes, year-plus amalgamation of a woman. It’s dreamlike but unsettling to think the face we’re looking at here never really existed. I wonder if her face hurt after making that same expression over and over and over and over again? [Tiemen Rapati via Colossal]

Let me get this straight..
Some lame photographer took 500 photos of the same beautiful woman’s face over a period of a year and a half.
Morphed them and got a composite photo of the same beautiful woman’s face and now everybody is standing around going Ooo, Ahh you’re a fucking genius?
While the photographer is wondering if her face hurts..
He may as well have taken pictures of a lamp post over a 12 month period..

Also, sit down, take a deep breath.

Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 11:32 AMIt also says ‘self-portraitist’. She took the photos herself. There are only 6 and a half lines of text, and I don’t think you read any of them.

Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 10:46 AMI would not say it never existed – It is an anaysis of how a real face has changed over the course of a year.
Go take a picture of 500 different people and average them – then you might have something that never existed!

I wonder if the author would have said this if she was an ugly woman and the result was just a blurry ugly woman.
