This Dubai Time lapse Is So Perfect It Doesn’t Seem Real

Our friend Gerald Donovan set his camera in front of what the inhabitants of Dubai call “The Centre of Now”. After watching this video, I completely understand why they call it that way.

He took 2880 shots over 24 hours, one every 30 seconds, starting at 4am local time of 11/11/11.

It’s beautiful. Gerald told me that “the light going down the Burj Khalifa at the start of the video [you can see the light line going down through the whole tower] is a reflection of the full moon setting. Later in the video, you can see the sun reflection doing the same thing as it sets.” He also thinks this is the most impressive view of Dubai you can get. I agree with him 100 per cent. [08]

    Brilliant and breathtaking!
No wonder that place is a desert—did you catch those two clouds?

What is cool, is in the middle, on the horizon is the Airport and at night to the right you can see the steady stream of planes landing.

Now if they’d only improve their human rights (i.e. not treat rape victims like criminals), then that place would truly live up to its good looks.

If only it were in extreme widescreen – you’d feel like you were really there…

… peering through a burqa, of course.
