Who would have predicted that Barnes and Noble’s new Nook Tablet would be rooted? Oh, everyone? Well, it still happened, and that’s good news for modders who are looking forward to hacking the bejeezus out of these low-cost tablets.
Hot on the heels of the Kindle Fire’s rooting, the brianiacs over at the XDA Developers Forum have given the Nook the same treatment. While the Nook was edged out by the $US50 cheaper Kindle Fire in our tests, it’s important to note that the Nook has more RAM. It’s not really taking advantage of it as it is, but if you are trying to choose between the two reader/tablets, and know for sure that you are going to hack it and put Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on it as soon as possible, that extra RAM might just be worth the extra 50 bones.
