The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority doesn’t want Pakistanis to be able to text the following words to each other, in fear that they will become rapists and murderers, or something. So it banned them. Here are those words.
The list includes over a thousand words I don’t think I’ve heard anyone other than high school kids utter. [PC Mag -- Thanks Nicko!]

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 7:46 AManyone think it’s strange that this is an english list?? how many Pakistani’s are texting in English rather than their own language??
Dave
Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 8:24 AMOr a nice US English list. I Can think of Plenty of AUS or UK English words, alternate plain spellings and non-slang replacements for those banned words.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 8:26 AMSam, why did you post this at all, and why the hell you have written rapist and murderers, surely there are some incidents, but they have nothing to do with texting, you are an idiot, and please next time use your brain and don’t even try to defame the news.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 8:39 AMUm…… how about a NSFW warning in the title???
chris
Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 9:54 AMSeriously? Do you have someone looking over your shoulder reading every word on your screen? This isn’t a huge image of some naked celebrity, its a bunch of words on a page in quite a small font. Also If you consider a list of swear words not appropriate for work, then why would you open an article titled “Here’s Every Single Word You’re Not Allowed To Text In Pakistan” OF COURSE THERE ARE GOING TO BE SWEAR WORDS, IT SAYS SO IN THE ARTICLES TITLE! People really piss me off when they blame their own stupidity on others. (this comment is NSFW because it contains the word piss)

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 9:03 AMThat list pretty much bans me from ever sending texts in Pakistan. What happens if I text these words to a friend in Pakistan, will he/she have their fingers cut off as punishment?

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 9:25 AMIsn’t it ironic that the list contain most of the words in the NFL’s naughty words list, published in 2005? see http://outsports.com/nfl/2005/0301nflshopnaughtywords.htm

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:03 AMI would pay actual money to see a person read this entire list out. I’m thinking either James Earl Jones, or Christopher Walken.
Actually definitely Christopher Walken.
Also, who IS Anal Annie?

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:11 AM‘Red light’? ‘Show time’? ‘Snatch’? ‘Creamy’? ‘Wet spot’?
“The other day I was stuck at a [REDACTED] for ages! I nearly missed the [REDACTED] for the movie. So I had to quickly [REDACTED] a ticket at the last minute and a [REDACTED] soda. But I managed to see all of Lady and the [REDACTED] and it was a great animated kids’ movie. Unfortunately someone spilled a srink and I nearly sat in the [REDACTED].”
I mean really, any word can be dirty. Like ‘budweiser’ apparently.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:16 AMI think you missed a word in your ordered list. Unless you did mean the movie to be “Lady and the West spot” which puts you at an altogether different movie theatre.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:28 AMPakistan tech support is in an uproar. Not allowed to text ID10T

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:12 AMPaki youth are using numbers to overcome this ban. They will use numbers or characters to replace words. EG. Instead of Arse, they may use (_|_) or for boobs they may use ( . )( . ). Or for balls they may use 21337 (random number). Not hard, just inconvenient.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 12:00 PMWhy is KMART banned…….
Also I can foresee situations where some of these words being banned is a problem, they are used in normal conversation. Joint, lotion and so on.
