Are the days of the humble remote control winding to a close? Foxtel’s just announced an update to its iOS and Android Foxtel apps that’ll let you use your smartphone as the remote control.
If you’ve already got the Foxtel App, all you should need to do is update it and make sure it’s linked to your Foxtel online account. Then all you need to do is work out what you’re going to do with the AA batteries in the remote control, what with it being useless now. [Foxtel]

Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 12:22 PMWill have to check this out later by remotely changing channel while my wife is watching one of her shows! Will still need the Foxtel remote for Setanta Sports, though – that doesn’t appear in the Foxtel app.
