Thor’s Blu-ray Extras: Exclusive Video Sneak Peek

Gizmodo AU

Movies based on comic book superheroes don’t always turn out well — ahem, like a certain movie involving a ring and a lantern — but Thor turned out to be pretty amazing by all standards, raking in nearly $450 million at the box office. It’s out now in a three-disc superset, and we’ve got exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.

Thor, starring Aussie Chris Hemsworth and hottie Natalie Portman, was named as “one of the best ever adaptations of a Marvel comic“, and it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen all year, thanks to some awesome action sequences and special effects. In the exclusive videos that we’ve got for you below, you can get peek at just how much painstaking detail went into the enormous sets, as well as how they went about building a real town.

Thor is available now on a three-disc superset (3D Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy via iTunes) for $54.99, as well as on a triple-play blu-ray, DVD and digital copy combination for $49.99. Both sets come with 80 minutes of bonus material, including a look into the Marvel Universe and a sneak peek into the upcoming The Avengers.

Oh, and keep your eye out for Super 8, which will be released on DVD and triple play on November 17. Christmas presents for this year are totally sorted.

I’ll hold out for a single disc, blu-ray only copy of the movie.

As much as I loved the movie, I refuse to pay extra for something I’m not going to use, I’m not buying HD/Blu Ray versions of films just to sit down and pop the SD/DVD copy into the player, and I don’t feel the need to watch a feature length movie on my 4″ phone screen either.

I also don’t see the point of a digital copy; I can make my own easily enough using Handbrake or the like. A supplemental DVD isn’t such a bad idea though, for playback on the bedroom TV or for the kids.

      I don’t own multiple Blu-ray players… yet.
