Orange France Leaks Nokia Sun Windows Phone

Known previously as the mysterious Nokia “Sea Ray”, this leaked bit of mobile kit from Orange France is now apparently known as the Sun. The leak includes specs. Oh, the specs!

Well, not that many. A handful, to be sure. The face of the phone looks to be a 3.7-inch AMOLED. Inside, Windows Phone Mango 7.5, 1.4Ghz processor and 16GB memory. Also inside, a micro SIM card, not a standard-size one. Launch date is tentatively listed as the second week of November. [Tech2]

They’ve said from back in Feb that WP7 devices were possible in 2011, then probable, then likely, and now we have a date. It’s no big conspiracy, it’s just poor timing from Apple to have a disappointing product right now.

Nope, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop confirmed there will be Nokia wp7 phone(s) this year.

The (s) was added by me.

    Give me 32GB or 64GB!

Ironic that the iPhone alternative with excellent inbuilt media player doesn’t have a single GSM phone with more than 16gb, while android with its rubbish outdated media management can have whatever it wants.

So far all the Gen2 devices have been announced with NAND, not SD, so don’t count on it again in the future. I’d prefer NAND any day of the week, as long as it can fit my media.

Not to mention the amount of forum topics based around SD card stability issues with the samsung focus and other WP7 gen 1 devices that used SD memory.

No MeeGo/harmattan is killer. there foolish for ditching it. im not a big Microsoft fan, i really dont like the look of windows phone. and i personally think Elop is the worst thing to happen to Nokia.

So you’ll get an N9 with dead on arrival software that wont be supported by developers?

          Cool story bro.

yes yes i did. because its the best looking most intuitive os on the market today. in run Linux so if i want and app it can just port it. there are plenty of desktop apps than run well on it like open office. its true that they aren’t optermised for the screen size. As for developer support Meego has one of the friendliest communities out there and there making some pretty infinitive stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ATzQuWVIA4

Here is a worthy iPhone competitor. at least here, the specs actually translate into better performance, unlike certain platforms… hopefully this will be the start of wp7 as a true competitor to iOS/Android phones with some actual more proper sales.

<3 Windows phone, haven't looked back since terminating my 3GS contract for a omnia 7. Good games, nice battery life, great screen, and Mango update. I used to use a nokia n95, and it was a good unit, but symbian sucked balls. Nokia build quality with WP7. Damn contract :P

why only 16gb?! seriously whats wrong with people making wp7 phones. 16gb is nowhere near enough for a smartphone, minimum 32gb

I have been hanging on to my beaten up 3GS waiting for a nice nokia Windows Phone. I think the N9 looks great, something like that with what I’ve seen of WP should be awesome.

Can anyone tell me if the Speech recognition on Mango required an internet connection like Siri and whatever android have?

I drive around the country a lot and tend to have anything resembling 3g for a miniscule amount of time so it would be useless for in car use.

    Cheers
