Mythbusters To Host Discovery’s Documentary On Steve Jobs

Here’s a TV show to queue up your DVR. Our favourite Mythbusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman are teaming up to honour Steve Jobs in an hour-long documentary that’ll air on the Discovery Channel later this month.

The television special will focus on the impact Steve Jobs had on other peoples lives. It’ll include interviews from musicians like Stevie Wonder who’ll talk the influence Steve Jobs had on his career and former Apple employee Daniel Kottke who will talk his time with the Apple CEO. The documentary will air on Sunday, October 16, on Discovery’s domestic and international channels. [InsideTV]

“..Stevie Wonder who’ll talk the influence Steve Jobs..”

This makes me respect them just that little bit less.

And Stevie Wonder talking about the influence on his career? By the time Apple came on the scene his best days were well behind him. The biggest hit he’s had since then was someone else covering one of his songs with crudely altered lyrics (Pastime paradise==gangster paradise).

And like they’d give a fuck about losing your respect if you’d condemn them for honouring someone who you personally don’t like.

I’m confused by Stevie Wonder featuring on this as well, it doesn’t make a lick of sense.

      Scott:
It’s his respect, he can give and take it from whomever he wants. Personally i think respecting someone less because they support someone you don’t is perfectly acceptable. He didn’t condem them, just respects them a little less. Also I doubt he was hoping they’d care about it.

      Paul:
Calling people names is detrimental to your already benign comment.

    mmm…don’t know about this…
So this guy made some cash out of computers, was a complete dick to a lot of people that worked for him, no apparent donations to charity and quite open about the slave labour in China.
Should make for a controversial documentary.

wow, you trolls never give up. Back under your bridges.

Do you think that Apple are the only company that outsourced to China? I have a reality check for you.

    They all do.

    talk about ill informed.

I never said he was a saint, but people single out apple for such evil things and the tech they personally use is made by equally evil corporations doing exactly the same thing.

Apple is only targeted because it’s the biggest and most successful. That is hypocrisy, I’m afraid. Apple aren’t clean, sure, but neither is ANYONE else.

You’re a fool if you think otherwise.

I don’t think it’s hypocrisy and I don’t think anybody is saying that Apple are the only ones doing the wrong thing.

Who else is in a better position to implement change than the most valuable company in the sector? Having the highest profits makes you the one most capable of spending money to solve the problem.

Apple are always telling people to think differently, maybe they should think differently by starting a revolution in electronics manufacturing?

Just because everybody else is doing something doesn’t mean it’s right when you do it.

Unfortunately it’s brought up in almost every Android vs. iOS argument, that Apple is bad because of the Foxconn issue when HTC, Sony, Samsung etc. also use the same manufacturers.

They’re not even using it as a constructive criticism of Apple. It’s ammunition for the sake of ammunition.

You’ve confused hypocrisy with common sense. If people are doing bad things, wouldn’t you go after the biggest and most influential of those people to try and affect change?

If anyone is guilty of hypocrisy it’s Apple with their “think different” and “revolutionary” talk.

Trolling, the practice of fishing by drawing a baited line or lure behind a boat.

Hence nternet troll, someone who makes provocative coments (bait) in order to get responses (fish). You, fanboy are a fish.

Stevie Wonder has never even seen an iMac, iPhone nor Steve Jobs so I will find this both amusing AND enlightening.

If they wanted to honor him, why did they choose the mythbusters?

Because they’re MythBusters, things will end with explosions of iProducts to shower down upon the masses.

Or a MythBusters special on the Apple myths; “Is there really an app for that?”

At least make things relevant. They need to bust myths about Steve Jobs and Apple.

Did Steve left a 4 year plan?
    or
Is Steve in fact still alive?
    or
Will there be an iPhone 5 during Christmas?

Mythbusters are an odd choice for a doco on Steve Jobs and an interview with Stevie Wonder is even more odd, i suppose Discovery Channel knows what they are doing.

Would you all stop bitching about the Mythbusters team covering this? If it was 2 nobodies that you’d never heard of before, it wouldn’t be an issue. So why is it such a problem when these guys, with well over 8 years of experience in presenting in the media, take this on? Obviously Discovery picked people they think can handle this, so just shut it and let it be?

    End rant.

What more could there POSSIBLY be left to say about Steve Jobs at this point.

And furthermore, what additional insight or value could be brought to that subject by two guys who basicially specialise in special effects and the science thereof.

So no, I won’t be “queuing up my DVR”. in fact, I’ll be really surprised if even the most ardent Apple fanbois here on Giz even do.
