The rapid pace of Android phone development means that Android phone prices tend to crash, and crash hard. JB Hi-Fi is listing the Acer Liquid Metal, an Android 2.2 phone with 3.6-=inch touchscreen locked to Telstra prepaid. Yes, it’s not the latest and greatest. But it is only $128. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 2:09 PMIt’s a great deal. And also can be unlocked just by updating to the right newer firmware. Only has 850mhz and 2100mhz 3G though, so not so great outside metro areas on vodafone or optus.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 3:43 PMdefinitely a good purchase.. just got one.
pretty bulky i guess but feels strong enough.
flashed in the space of 2 minutes and unlocked:
google: Acer_LiquidMT_4.000.01_AAP-GEN2_03.28.01.zip (134,899 KB)
Then unzipped it and made a new folder on the SD card with the name “acer_ug”.
Placed the ROM into this folder and booted to SD Download Mode with Camera / Vol- / Power which is when it did some funky business and then switched off.
got this info from whirlpool: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1780509
