Gizmodo Poll: Work In IT? What’s Your Specialty?

Gizmodo AU

Earlier this year we asked Gizmodo readers if you write code for a living, and it’s no surprise that many of you do! But it’s also clear that many Gizmodians work across a range of IT professions: from network admins to VMware gurus. So what’s your specialty?

We want to know more about the IT pros here in the Gizmodo community. So let us know where abouts you fit in the IT crowd below! If you’re a developer, we’ve got a separate poll for you.
Leave a comment below if your role isn’t listed.

Probably because development is more of a business function than being directly an IT function.

Just a general IT support guy, with a German contractor sysadmin and a Brazilian network admin. I’m basically the smiling, non-accented face of the IT Department.

I’m also the one who does most of the fuck-ups and bangs his head on the desk when someone “has no time” to plug a keyboard, mouse and HDMI cable into their laptop and want me to do it FOR FUCK”S SAKE I’M GONNA BURN THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND ASDFPOASDF

Well I’m not technically in IT but much of my work revolves around IT and my IT training and qualifications have come in handy as a result. I do occasionally providebasic PC support for teams because we only have one IT guy here in our office and he’s either away or incapable of doing the simple things.

My official title is: Fraud / AML Analyst but when filling out forms, the closest match is Fraud Investigator. I chose “Security Administrator or Specialist” from the list as it is also the best fit. :)

Infrastructure or Enterprise Architect? What happened to Solution Architect? Jeez, do some research. It’s not like SA is an oddball role. IBM, CSC, CA, all have them.
