Gas Cylinders Are Great For Smuggling Mobile Phones

Smugglers in China will go to great lengths to get their contraband like mobile phones into and out of the country. In the past, they’ve used housewives and even crossbows and pulleys. This latest operation used gas cylinders.

In a recent raid, police found 345 mobile phones shoved inside several household gas cylinders. The discovery was made at a border inspection station when customs officials became suspicious of a man’s story that he was a gas company employee. The dead giveaway was the weight of the gas tanks as those with phones were heavier than their gas-filled counterparts.

After x-raying and closely inspecting the cylinders, the officials found the mobile phones. Interestingly enough, most of the phones were Samsung and Sony Ericsson, not Apple. [SZWB, MIC Gadget]
