BlackBerry’s New QNX Platform Is Called BBX

RIM’s BlackBerry Dev Con is going on right now, but the big news so far is the unveiling of BlackBerry’s ballyhooed new QNX platform for smartphones and tablets, called BBX.

BBX supports a bunch of developing platforms, but most notably gets behind HTML5 and will see the arrival of BlackBerry’s Android emulator Runtime, which will finally bring the long-promised dream of Android apps on BlackBerry devices. It’ll also support 3D photos and games.

If you’ve been waiting to upgrade to a new BlackBerry, this is the news you’ve been waiting for. [RIM via Twitter]
