Trippy Turbine Adorned With Lights

Though they deliver clean energy, wind turbines are not exactly pretty. They’re tall, grey and sterile. They also interrupt a beautiful outside view.

One exception may be the wind generator in Hanover, Germany, which is decked out from top to bottom in lights. This colourful structure was the handiwork of French artist Patrick Raynaud and is used to show people that wind power is beautiful. [New Scientist]

Honestly I think wind turbines are pretty beautiful. It’s probably because I’m thinking about the effect they have mitigating other methods of power production when I look at them though.

Gotta wonder if that christmas-lighted turbine looks any less tacky in person :P

+1 I think there is something beautiful about a green field full of wind turbines. It is like technology coexisting with nature

Yep, the farms you see spread over europe don’t look ugly imo. better looking than a coal fired powerstation thats for sure.

I’m with Corteks, I think wind turbines are beautiful anyway.
It’s pretty magical to see a whole field spinning in synchronised splendour!

With lights it looks pretty, but it just gets me wondering how much less efficient it is when some of its energy is wasted like that.
