Samsung Australia Giving Away Free 3D TV Glasses

Gizmodo AU

Got a 2010-era Samsung 3DTV and a fair amount of patience? Samsung have some glasses they’d very much like to clear from the warehouse.

OzBargain notes that Samsung’s clearing out their stock of 2010 era 3D glasses for nothing. You can request up to five pairs, but it appears as though the phone queues to actually get hold of them are rather busy. You’ve got to cover postage and handling costs as well. If you’ve got the right TV and a fair amount of patience, the number to call is 1800 236 454. [OzBargain via Good Gear Guide]

Is this because they perfected battery free glasses, or because nobody gives a shit about 3d anymore?

Just ordered 5 pairs for $35. Not bad considering they’re worth $100+ each.

Actually – not nothing. Max 5 pairs for $35 total and starts at 1 for $15. They are the rechargeable type – RRP last year (and still) $149 in some stores!

The reason for the clearence is that the 2010 models work on infared signal, the 2011 models saw Samsung move to BlueTooth transmissions – hence the incompatability of the old stock and new TV’s.

A bit of research wouldnt go astray! Oh – and they had 3000 at 9:00am, at 11:15am it was down to 750 left.

Probably all gone (or nearly) by now.

    Sheeds.

PS – Some of the PS3 titles played on the big screen in 3D are amazing – and there are a few worthy BluRay Discs.

I wonder what’s with the “please allow at least 90 days for delivery”….. at least????? WTF? Will they maybe take more than 90 days then? 3 years? 10 years? Are they coming from mars?

    Amazing bargain though.

So what happens when they sell out, if you’ve got a 2010 model TV you can’t buy any more 3D glasses?
