Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Release Delayed Yet Again

Gizmodo AU

This isn’t a huge surprise — I guessed as much in my post on it this morning — but the word coming out of the hearing between Apple and Samsung is that Samsung’s agreed to hold off on launching the Galaxy Tab 10.1 until at least next week.

ITNews notes that the judge in the case isn’t inclined to issue a summary judgement in the case due to the complexity of the patents involved, but instead sought an interlocutory judgement on Samsung’s ability to sell the tablet. Samsung’s lead barrister David Catterns SC agreed to carry on the undertaking not to launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 into next week, pending the interlocutory judgement.

No; I don’t really speak lawyer either. Short form: No Galaxy Tab 10.1 until next week at the very earliest. [ITNews]

And Apple will find a way to block that too because the demo Win8 tablet endorsed by Microsoft is made by Samsung…..

Yup. And myself and quite a few million people are Holding Off buying a Tablet until Samsung is able to introduce the Galaxy Tab without Apple’s interference. I own an iPad 1 and just bought Apple’s vaunted Camera Kit – CRIPPLEWARE – that doesn’t function as advertised as Apple strangled the output to the card reader effectively destroying any functionality – This must be Deceptive and Misleading marketing under the Trade Practices Act.

Apple has just lost this bunny. Perhaps I should have known better!

Apple has an obligation to their shareholders to press these patent suits. The problem, is that these bean counters underestimated how much of a PR disaster it would be. It’s hard to be the ‘good guy’ if public perception is that you’re the schoolyard bully throwing your newfound weight around.

Whether it proves to be a disaster is yet to be seen. I can’t see many people that don’t follow tech news caring all that much to be honest and I imagine most that do follow it wouldn’t let the case sway their buying decision one way or the other. I imagine theres a very small minority of people that would have purchased an Apple product but won’t now.

Certainly their share price hasn’t been hurt.

I study Advertising and all theory related, brand image is highly complicated when it comes to positioning a brand within the consumers mind, these law suits are not helping.

I’d like to point out, that Apple owes a high amount of its success to being an alternative almost fashionable choice to PC’s, however, as owning a Apple product is becoming ridiculously main stream, and the companies current behaviour, they are making the mistake Microsoft did. They are getting comfortable.

Honestly, I ask this question to tech enthusiasts and fan boys alike, who has been more innovative in the last 5 years?

Microsoft has changed it’s direction dramatically, Metro is brilliant. Google is ever expanding, ever creating new and cool directions for the internet, not to mention Android.

PC developers have adopted sleek, appealing designs, although some inspired by Macbooks, their designs are ever changing, constantly progressing.

What the hell can you say about Apple? The iPad 1 & 2 are identical, iPhone 3&4 holds no direct change to design or software. The entire Apple range has remained the same. Sure why change something when it works? Because it’s boring, lacks innovation and when you add this to suing everyone who is trying to come up with new ideas makes you look like a douche.

Honestly, I liked Apple when it was different, when it was ahead of it’s time, now it’s just lagging. iOS/OSX is bland, compared to the capabilities of W8/Metro and Android.

Before fan boys rage, know that I own an iPhone 4, and MacBook Pro. However, I just switched to the Samsung Galaxy SII and Samsung laptop.

    Purely

    Because

    Apple

    Is

    A

    DOUCHE!

        +2 Lol nice rant!

IMO Apple has never really been ahead, they just give the image of being so by claiming they have something new or did it first when others already had it.
But they did market very well and people seem to like that shitty white plastic deisgn of theirs (let’s go back to beige comupters huh?!) haha

I have an iPhone, kids have iPod Touch, I was about to buy an iPad 2 and the Xoom looked interesting, then I found the samsung and decided to wait for the 3G/4G. Regardless of what happens in this case I’m not buying Apple. Apple won’t care but at least I’ve made a point and Apple will not get my $$$
